This residence serves as a distinctive architectural bridge, merging the traditional vernacular of the Atlantic seaboard with the expansive, airy spirit of the Pacific. The design adopts the classic silhouette of a shingle-style retreat—defined by textured siding and timeless gabled rooflines—and reinterprets it through a sharp, contemporary lens that invites the horizon indoors.
The structural narrative focuses on achieving a balance between rhythmic geometry and coastal openness. By integrating oversized glazing into the traditional frame, the home allows the coastal sun to illuminate the interior while offering curated vistas of the ocean. Deep-set verandas and private balconies provide essential sheltered retreats, capturing the essence of classic porch culture while optimizing the home for a seamless, year-round Southern California lifestyle.
Inside, the residence adopts a refined organicism that favors depth and texture over monochromatic simplicity. A palette of muted charcoal, forest olive, and soft taupe is layered with weathered timber and raw stone, ensuring the generous floor plan feels both evocative and quiet. Every element—from the precision-crafted kitchen to the tranquil outdoor lounges—is executed to facilitate effortless movement and a high-design ease that is deeply rooted in its beachside environment.
